Tango Maintenance - Vendor Select - Filter by Trade

Modified on Tue, 3 Mar at 1:03 AM

Overview

The December Sprint introduced a new way to filter for Vendors when selecting them on a Service Request. In addition to the existing Search Option dropdown choices, the newly added “Filter by Trade” checkbox will narrow down the list of Supplier Sites based on the Trade selected in the Service Request.

  1. Toggle Filter by Trade on or off
    • Allows searching for Vendors by Trade plus another Search Option
  2. Client configuration option to default the Trade filter on or off
    • For clients who assign Trades to all their Supplier Sites, you can configure the Trade filter to always be checked by default as a new Work Order Configuration option.

Trades

Trade is a common component found through the Maintenance module in both Tango Core and Edge. At a high level, Trades categorize the types of work that suppliers can perform. Trade drives various assignment logic and filtering throughout the product.

Tango Core

In Tango Core, the Trades are a client-defined list whose values can be assigned directly to  Supplier Sites. Supplier Sites can be assigned to one or many Trades.

Trade is also an integral component of the Supplier Preferences functionality which determines which Vendors will be auto-selected on a Request. Based on the Region + Market (derived from the Location), and Trade of the Request, the Preferences will define which Vendors are selected by default (or Auto Dispatched to).

Tango Edge

In Tango Edge, Trade is Level 4 of the Problem Code Matrix. On a Service Request, Trade is populated when the Problem Code (Level 3) is selected.

Trade is also an important part of assigning the correct Vendor or Maintenance Lead. As mentioned above, if you have Supplier Preferences set up for the Trade and the Location (Region/Market) combination, the platform will automatically select the vendors in the preference.

Filter By Trade

The Filter By Trade option will assist Facility Managers in selecting the correct Vendor during the Select step of the Service Request.

For example, this Service Request has the Trade of General Handyman:

Now on the Vendor Select step, the Facility Manager will see an option to Filter By Trade (with the Trade name in parenthesis).

While this is unchecked, the list of Supplier Sites below will show every available record from Core without any filters.

Once checked, the list below will be filtered to only show Supplier Sites that have been assigned to the Trade on the Request.

As mentioned above, additional Search options can be applied to further filter down the list.

Note: If your Request already had selected Vendors, populated from Supplier Preferences or from manual selection, applying the Filter By Trade checkbox will display the filtered results under the selected Vendors. You will see the same kind of behavior by applying any of the other Search Options as well.

Default Filter By Trade Configuration

Filter By Trade can be configured per client to be checked or unchecked by default.

A new checkbox field is available on the Work Order Configuration called “Default Vendor Select Trade Filter” that will determine if the Filter By Trade checkbox on the Service Request Select step is checked or unchecked by default. This configuration is unchecked by default, which is consistent with legacy behavior.

For clients using Supplier Preferences or assigning Trades to their Supplier Sites, it is recommended to check the Default Vendor Select Trade Filter field in the Work Order Configuration. Regardless of the Default setting, the checkbox on the Service can be checked or unchecked by the Facility Manager while they are filling out the Request record.

Filter By Trade is currently available on Service Requests and will be available on Related Work Order and Scheduled Maintenance in an upcoming sprint.
