How to sync a building to Reserve when the address is too long

Modified on Wed, 2 Sep at 12:05 PM

Problem

A building may fail to synchronize from Space to Reserve when the value in Address 1 exceeds the supported character limit. When this occurs, the building remains active in Space but is unavailable in Reserve.

Symptoms

  • The building does not appear in Reserve.

  • Expected floors or workspace details are missing in Reserve.

  • The building is active in Space and its floors are not marked as excluded from Reserve.

  • The primary address string exceeds the supported character count.

Prerequisites

  • Permission to edit building or location details in Space.

  • Access to verify the building in Reserve after synchronization.

Solution

Immediate Workaround: Shorten Address 1

  1. Open the affected building or location record in Space.

  2. Review the Address 1 field and shorten it to fit within the supported length (50 characters in legacy configurations).

  3. Use standard abbreviations (e.g., "Rd" instead of "Road") and move secondary details (such as suite or building numbers) to Address 2.

  4. Save the updated building record in Space.

Expected result: The updated building record can be accepted by Reserve and synchronization will proceed.

Implemented Fix: Expanded Address Capacity

The synchronization process has been updated to support longer address values:

  • The supported address capacity between Space and Reserve was expanded from 50 to 100 characters.

  • User interface layouts across applications were updated and validated to ensure longer address strings display properly.

What this means: New or updated building addresses up to 100 characters will synchronize automatically without requiring you to manually shorten the address string to 50 characters.

If an address still exceeds 100 characters, shorten Address 1 using standard abbreviations and move secondary details to Address 2.

Verification

  1. Open Reserve and navigate to Settings > Locations.

  2. Confirm that the building appears in the location list.

  3. Verify that all expected floors and workspace details are available and populated.

  4. Confirm that the displayed address is complete and accurate.

Preventive Guidance

  • Keep Address 1 concise and within the supported 100-character limit.

  • Use standard address abbreviations where appropriate.

  • Place secondary location details (suite numbers, unit numbers, floor details) in Address 2.

  • Always verify in Reserve after saving a new building in Space.
