If you're using the default asset groups and user groups which are: Request Assets and Asset Approvers, you will not be able to approve your own requests and will always need a secondary approver to do that for you.
However, as an approver, if you would like your reservations to automatically go through (since you're likely the one to make that decision anyway) a Reserve administrator could create a new user group (ex: facilityname_,managers), add your name and any other users, and then give this group the permissions to to “reserve” in the asset group that you'd like for them to have.
Go to Settings > Groups & Permissions > Add an Asset Group
Name your user group, add your users and save
Go to Permissions > Select the Asset groups that apply
Select the permissions they should be given like Reserve Assets and Approve Requests. Perhaps Manage Assets if you want them to be able to manage those assets as well. Click Apply.
And then Save
Now, the users in this group will be able to approve, reserve and even manage the assets that are in the permitted asset group.
