Exchange Integration versus Add-to-Calendar

Modified on Tue, 3 Mar at 1:09 AM

Reserve can work with Exchange (Outlook for most end-users) in a couple of different ways:

Two-Way Integration

The Reserve+Exchange Integration is a two-way integration with Exchange O365 which allows ease of use for users for collaboration spaces. In this scenario, a user can start their meeting from Outlook with a room location, sends the invitation and a reservation is created in Reserve. Or, the user can opt to start their reservation from a Reserve interface, submits it and a calendar appointment gets created in the user's calendar as well as in the room calendar. The schedules are continuously synced between the two systems; so that any changes in on system also gets created in the other.

This integration is an additional option that can be added to the base implementation for a fee.

Add to Calendar

The Add-to-Calendar feature allows the owner (and invitees) to receive an appointment or ICS when making a reservation. In the make a reservation workflow, the user has the option to "Add to Calendar" which would prompt an email with an ICS attachment, or an actual invite. (See image below). This is not a two-way integration. Meaning, if the user modifies or cancels their appointment from their calendar, this change does not get reflected back in Reserve. The user will still need to go to Reserve to adjust the reservation.

This feature comes standard with your Reserve implementation and is disabled when the two-way Reserve+Exchange integration is in place.
