Introduction

The estimation process has been improved with the auto-approve estimate functionality for facility managers (FM's) who submit an Estimate against their assigned Work Order while in “Facility Manager Override” mode. Traditionally, when vendors submit an estimate, the assigned facility manager receives an approval notification since the organization would review the quote provided by the vendor to ensure it is in line with expectations and approve or decline.

Auto-approval for FM-submitted entries

While ensuring the FM approves estimates originating from another party, there is no need to additionally approve an estimate originating from the FM - since they are also the approving party. Historically this would create a second step, to approve the estimate by the FM who just submitted the entry. This process has been approved, so users in the FM role will see those estimates auto-approve without requiring the secondary step when submitting estimates. This process eliminates the need to send the approval notification and the requirement to manually approve when the initiator and the approver are the same people. Instead, the estimate status instantly updates to ‘Estimate Approved’ status as soon as the estimator (when a Facility Manager) submits an estimate.

**Note- that the approval workflow for the vendors who submit an estimate remains the same, and it requires the need to be approved by the facility manager and will not be auto-approved.
