The start date on my "no-end-date" reservation occurs in the past. Why?

Modified on Tue, 3 Mar at 1:15 AM

The N-E-D (no-end-date) and/or continuous reservation (reservations that cross over midnight) can be a bit confusing especially when the start date occurs in the past but your status says awaiting check-in. This is because for N-E-D and Continuous Reservations:

The start date of the reservation that is displayed from the reservation view and reminder emails will show the original start date of the reservation, as long as the reservation is checked into daily.

  1. If a reservation is checked out, the reservation start day will maintain the original start date.
    • A check-in/out action on a N-E-D does not cause the booking to be gapped/canceled/bumped/etc. It is simply a reflection of whether or not the person is at the desk assigned to them at that specific date.
  2. If the reservation is bumped, auto-bumped or canceled, the start date will change to the next day of the N-E-D or Continuous reservation.
    • A bump, however, will create a gap from the bump time to the next scheduled start time (this original start time, but for “tomorrow”). That is why you are seeing the date change.

TYPES OF RESERVATIONS:

  • Continuous - crosses over midnight, but has a start and end date. i.e. single reservation that starts on a Monday and does not have an end date until Friday. However, if the user has to check in, then the reservation will be bumped and remade.
  • Recurring - pattern of single-day reservations that start and end within 24 hours on a set schedule i.e. daily reservation 8-5 for 5 days
  • No End Date - used for permanent seat assignment reservations. It functions/is handled differently to accommodate a never-ending reservation
