Reserve User Rights grant users permission to perform certain tasks within Reserve. User Rights allow users to perform the functions that they should be able to do, while preventing them from accessing parts of the system and perform certain actions. For example, the right to be able to archive locations should only be given to Administrators. This right should not be enabled for much of the other roles.
What to do when you first access Reserve?
User rights are granted or disabled to maintain system control and are assigned by User Role. One of the first decisions you would make as you begin your onboarding process is to determine which user roles in Reserve you plan to use. You can use the Default Roles or you can create a Custom Role. Refer to this article for more information on Custom Roles.
Check out this article if you want to learn more about what the typical responsibilities are for the default roles in Reserve.
Once you've determined what roles you will use in Reserve, you should then review the Roles and Rights template for each role and decide what rights you want to use as a default for each role. Reserve assigns a set of default rights when your Reserve instance is provisioned, but these may or may not be the rights appropriate to your organization. The rights you choose should be determined by your use cases, your workflows and your overall workplace program.
What to do in Reserve?
- As a Reserve Administrator, log in to Reserve then go to SETTINGS > GENERAL > ROLES & RIGHTS.
- Select the default role from the Role Templates column to review the default settings. You can find a full list of the rights in the attached file below.
- Check any rights that you want applied to your default templates. Similarly, uncheck any rights to disable that function. The rights you select for that template will be automatically applied when you assign that role to the user in Reserve.
