How do I add a Splash Page?

Modified on Tue, 3 Mar at 1:09 AM

If your organization needs to present a policy to users when they log in so that they can give consent, this can be accomplished via the Splash Page. This optional feature is easy to set up and the text can quickly be changed when the need arises. Once configured, the Splash Page will be displayed whenever a user logs in to any Reserve application. The user must press the Accept button to be passed into the application. If the Decline button is pressed, they will be directed back to the login screen.

Setting up a Splash Page

  1. Compose the text to be displayed in the Splash Page. It must be plain text with no formatting other than line breaks. Be sure to phrase the text such that it makes sense with the buttons for "Accept" and "Decline," which cannot be changed.
  2. In the Reserve Web Application, go to the General tab in the Settings screen. Use the left side-bar to navigate to Splash Page (you must have the "Manage Reserves" right for this to be enabled). Select your organization's primary language from the drop-down menu. Enter the desired text in the Splash Page Text Field. Press the Save button. *Repeat as needed for additional languages (Reserve will not translate the text).
  3. Contact your Project Manager or support team, requesting that they enable the property for the Splash Page. This will be enabled in all Reserve applications unless you specify that you do not want this enabled in specific interfaces. If your policy does not apply to interfaces which are always onsite, like Lobby Kiosk and Room Kiosk, then the property can be left disabled for those applications. Once enabled, the Splash Screen will be displayed every time a user logs in.

Considerations

  • All Reserve applications will use the text that is entered in the Reserve Web Application at Settings -> General -> Splash Page. You may update this text at any time.
  • The Splash Page will only be displayed after a user enters their credentials and is authenticated. If their session/token expires or they log out of the application, they will see the Splash Screen when they log back in. It will not be displayed every time a user accesses the application. If your organization's timeout settings need to be adjusted, contact your Account Manager.
  • Text is limited to 30,000 characters. The user must scroll to the end of the text for the Accept button to be enabled.
  • The size, color, font and alignment of the text cannot be changed and links cannot be included.
  • The same splash page text will be displayed for all locations.
  • No records are stored for tracking who has accepted/declined.
  • *If Splash Page text is entered for only one language, then all users will see that text regardless of the language specified in their profile. If Splash Page text is entered for multiple languages, then the Splash Page text displayed will be the one which matches the language specified in the user's profile.
