Tango Reserve M365 Connector – Direct Access

Modified on Tue, 3 Mar at 1:04 AM

The Direct Access method allows Tango Reserve to connect with Microsoft 365 (M365) or Exchange using the permissions of the logged-in user. Unlike the service account model, no single account with super-user authority is required.

All interactions between Reserve and M365/Exchange are performed on behalf of the user, ensuring tighter security and accurate alignment with each user’s calendar permissions.

How Direct Access Works

  • User Permissions: The logged-in user’s permissions control the ability to create, modify, or cancel appointments on their Exchange calendar.
  • Tokens:
    • User Access Token – Used when syncing reservations from Reserve to Microsoft 365.
    • App Access Token – Used by the Connector to subscribe to calendar events and retrieve meetings from room calendars.
