Friendly URL and the Mobile App

Modified on Tue, 3 Mar at 1:09 AM

If you have SAML and have decided to create a friendly URL (or vanity URL) to use in Reserve instead of the long EAS URL (that is kind of hard to remember), we recommend the following setups when creating the redirect.

Without these options enabled, some clients have reported issues when trying to use their friendly URL in the mobile app including:

  1. The home page image after logging in is not the correct image.
  2. The QR code option is greyed out.
  3. When checking in, users get a message that says: “The reservation cannot be ckecked in because you are currently outside of the allowed area for check in” or “You do not have the required permissions to check in to this reservation”

(Note that these issues do not occur when using the long EAS SAML URL in the mobile app)

Set-up for the re-direct:

There are several services available for creating a re-direct. The service that we use here at Tango for several different URL redirect needs is EasyRedir (https://www.easyredir.com/). When setting this up,  make sure to have the Parameter Forwarding enabled (bottom option on the screen shot below).

You may also need to set additional parameters to the redirect destination and have "Exact Destination" enabled as shown below
